Olana:
The hill-top Persian style villa of artist Frederic Church. The house and landscaped grounds of this State Historical Site were in part designed by Church. There are regularly scheduled special events, group tours, educational programs, and a museum. The landscaping is spectacular, as are the views. Frederic Church, one of the most important landscape painters of the nineteenth century, designed his home and the surrounding picturesque landscape to take full advantage of the magnificent views of the Catskill mountains and the river that inspired a generation of artists.
